Dear Aviation Enthusiasts,
I hope that you have all had a good summer. The airport had another busy season and we were kept fully occupied. You may well have seen the recent Crimewatch episode that focussed on policing at the airport, including an interview with Rachael Hodges, the new sergeant. Project Servator is developing well and we were also pleased to host a major regional dog training exercise where more than 40 dogs and handlers were ‘put through their paces’ over the week.
The news about Thomas Cook was particularly sad for everyone involved. Passengers have had their holidays disrupted or cancelled, we have lost some great colleagues at the airport, but above all our thoughts must be with the Thomas Cook staff in these uncertain times.
The final piece of news is that I leave the airport imminently. Inspector Chris Gresswell arrives in mid-October to take over my role. We have worked together in the past and I am really pleased that he can take over. I am sure that the airport and the team are in safe hands.
Best wishes
Barney Gardom
