Back in 2013 there was no website dedicated to spotting at Bristol Airport and so BAS was born, from a basic website and social media presence it has grown to what it is today with thousands of members and the website receiving hundreds of hits a month to become one of the best spotting websites in the UK. I oversee the Facebook group, websites and help with managing aviation events at Bristol Airport.

My interest in aviation started at a young age, living near to the approach of Bristol Lulsgate Airport. I visit the airport as much as possible from the mid 1980’s to the current date. My interest in aviation covers all aspects from light aircraft through to large military. I have an extensive library of images taken at Bristol Airport back through to the late 1980’s in print and slide format and posting them to my flickr site and website.
I started spotting at Bristol in the early 2000’s with my dad and took up photography not long after. I’m interested in both civil and military photography which can be found on my Flickr. I have joined the BAS admin team in Autumn 2019 but do come and say hello if you see me up Winters Lane. I help with the upkeep of the website and currently help organise and run the various aviation spotters events at Bristol Airport.

I’ve been spotting at Bristol since early 2019, but been a regular visitor since childhood with my Dad taking me up to the old viewing lounge. Having lived in South Bristol most of my life near to the approach path it was always part of daily life. These days I am lucky to work for Bristol Airport although sadly I don’t spend anywhere near as much time as I’d like on the apron, do say hello if you see me out and about during the day up there.
Past Team Members
Martyn joined the team in early 2016 to assist with the running of the website, social media and events. Using his years of aviation experience and one of the key areas Martyn was working on was the ID card scheme that we will be rolling out later in 2016. Unfortunately Martyn passed away in hospital on the 3rd October 2016.
